First Solo Flight of Student Pilot Maria Carmella Sombilon Franco

On a very clear weather Monday morning, on or about 1035H June 4, 2018, a 23 year old lass from down south, Zamboanga City, Student Pilot Maria Carmella Sombilon Franco successfully achieved her 1st Solo Flight, the highlight of her early flying career courtesy of the Chief Ground Instructor, Senior FI, Capt JC Asuncion. The petite and charming BS HRM graduate of Pilar College Zamboanga and currently, a dedicated Cabin Crew on-leave of Cebu Pacific Air, made it in just 15.5 Flying Hours on board the reliable RP-C6923. Incidentally, due to her very demanding job as a Cabin Crew of CebuPac, SP Mela Franco who enrolled early last year, was an original member of Batch Bravo 2017 and just recently joined Batch Charlie 2018 for her PPL ground schooling refresher course. Apparently, SP Mela Franco, whose love and passion for flying is beyond question and her sheer persistence to finally continue her dream of a lifetime is a virtue which clearly describes the 1st Soloist for the day. Hence, as soon as the ground schooling was completed, SP Mela was a priority in the flight training program, since she was considered a held-over of last year’s Batch “B” 2017, where majority of the members have already finished the complete course (PPL-CPL-IR). With her sterling accomplishment this morning, she automatically becomes a bonafide member to the few and elite club of the young and daring eaglets cleared for takeoff, authorized to explore and conquer the vastness of the horizon and clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, the home sanctuary of the Eagles’ Nest of Leading Edge.
Once again congratulation SP Mela Franco for reaching the skies and hurdling the most critical level in your early flying career, the unforgettable 1st Solo Flight. Happy flying and have Safe Flight always! Cheers and God bless!”
