Once again, Leading Edge sustained its Flight Training Program as envisioned in producing quality trained future commercial airline pilots to the optimum. Just this morning, May 30, 2018, two (2) young members of Batch Bravo 2018, Student Pilots Marc Hadrian Salazar Caunan 20 years old and Mark Wally Bautista Dauz, 19 years old, successfully achieved the highlight of their early flying careers, the “1st Solo Flight” courtesy of the very competent Senior Flight Instructors, Capt Philmer Powao and Capt Vladimir Evangelista who released the tandem on or about 0915H & 0925H respectively, flying RP-C7293 and RP-C8249. The very young batchmates are ironically nicknamed Marc Ian and Mark Wally a namesake record of sorts in the school’s soloing history. By the way, SP Ian Caunan who hails from Lemery, Batangas is a Multi-Media Arts graduate of De La Salle University Lipa, while, SP Wally Dauz, a native from nearby Bauang, La Union is an AMT pioneer graduate of LEIAAI Batch Alpha, which is also considered a first in our school’s 10 year history. Hence, officially, these 2 young and daring eaglets are now certified members of the elite aviators of the flight school authorized to takeoff, explore and conquer the vastness of the horizon as well as the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, the Eagles’ Nest and home sanctuary of LEIAAI! Moreover, aside from this memorable feat for both 1st soloists for the day, it is also a very special day, since the last document, ATOC Amendment for the latest acquisition of the 4 aircraft was at long last signed by CAAP today and may now be officially included in LEIAAI’s training fleet which now totals 18 Cessna 172Ms all in all.
