There is no way of stopping the momentum of releasing our flight school’s young and daring flightless eaglets for 1st solo flights at the training haven of Leading Edge’s Eagles’ Nest in San Fernando Airport, La Union! Fortunately, due to the prevailing good weather condition despite the rainy season, our Area of Responsibility (AOR) remains conducive for flight training as a result of the clear blue skies setting! Once again this morning flying RP-C8054, on or about 0910H September 21, 2018, the 46th Anniversary of Martial Law, a very lucky young millennial member of Batch Foxtrot 2018, Student Pilot Martha Louise De Joya Aquino, 22 year old lass from Merville Park Subdivision, Parañaque City successfully achieved her 1st Solo Flight courtesy of Capt Elcid Tolentino. Incidentally, the bespectacled and charming 1st Soloist for the day is now one among the growing list of graduates from De La Salle College of Saint Benilde who have chartered their flight plan towards the most glamorous and rewarding career and be future certified Commercial Airline pilots. Apparently, SP Martha Aquino accomplished her 1st solo commendably in just 13 flying hours, landing with extreme caution to safely maneuver and land her assigned aircraft smoothly proving that flying runs in her veins as her dad, Capt Luis Conrado “Corky” Aquino is presently a Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in Cebu Pacific Air. Likewise, she is a 3rd generation descendant of the Aquino Family Clan of aviators where her grandfathers, Gen Ernesto Aquino and Gen Flutz Aquino Sr. are distinguished members of the PAF Flying School Aviation Cadet Class 51A, seasoned transport and fighter pilots respectively of the Philippine Air Force. Moreover, a significant number of her uncles are products of the PAF Flying School as well as in the Airlines, which all the more validates that flying obviously runs in the family.
Once again, congratulations SP Martha Aquino for attaining the highlight and dream of every young aviator, the most coveted & unforgettable “1st Solo Flight” and effectively making it in the elite short list of certified flying eaglets of Leading Edge. Kudos as well to the proud and very supportive parents, Corky and Maritzi Aquino! As a food for thought for Martha; “Always remember, that this is just the beginning of your continuous flying lessons, air works, climb and climbing turn maneuvers, numerous power on/off stalls, navigation flights, instrument flying as well as touch and go’s. Knowledge, skills, guts coupled with the more essential basic elements of discipline, hard work and dedication will propel you to greater heights in your quest for a very bright future in the aviation industry!” Happy flying and have a Safe Flight always!
