Soloing for two (2) Light and Super Heavy Weights for the Day. “When it rains, it pours!” This quote does not apply to Pagasa’s declaration of rainy season experienced nationwide brought about by Habagat, an annual weather phenomenon, but by the frequency of the 1st solo flights at LEIAAI’s training hub, located at San Fernando Airport, La Union. This Saturday morning, 16 September 2017, just like the day before, 1st Solo in tandem was the normal mode in flight training operations. Initially, on or about 0840H, Light Weight, Student Pilot Mario Macasaet Alcantara, 30 years of age who hails from Barangay Bulaklakan, Lipa City and an Adamson University BSBA graduate successfully made his 1st Solo Flight, flying Cessna 172M RP-C7857 courtesy of the newly upgraded Senior FI Capt Enrique “King” Morales. Likewise, exactly 30 minutes later, on or about 0910H, Super Heavyweight, SP Martin Joel Matic Rayos, 28 years old, resident of San Antonio, Pasig City and a product of the University of Asia Pacific, BS in Entrepreneurial Management followed suit and was released for 1st Solo by Senior FI, Capt Philmer Powao flying Cessna 172M RP-C7293. Incidentally, the two (2) Big & Small 1st Soloists for today are members of the 19 strong Pre-solo Batch Foxtrot 2017 who on a regular frequency, have safely and successfully achieved the primary goal of 1st solo flights, the most significant level of achievements in the Pilot Training Program.
Once again, the Leading Edge family would like to extend its congratulations to the two (2) young & daring 1st Soloists for the day, as well as to both the supportive & proud parents! Have a happy and Safe Flight always! Cheers & God bless!
