Once again, Leading Edge sustained its Flight Training to the optimum with it’s vision of producing quality trained future commercial airline pilots without sacrificing standards and safety. Just this morning, November 29, 2018, another two (2) presolo students coming from two (2) different batches; Foxtrot and Hotel 2018, Student Pilots Arturo Abogado Ortiz II, 29 years old and 26 years old SP Lukas Angelo Imperial Oliveros, successfully achieved the highlight of their early flying careers, the “1st Solo Flight” courtesy of Senior Flight Instructors, Capt Ronald Nario and Capt Philmer Powao who released the tandem on or about 0900H and 0940H respectively, flying RP-C7653 and RP-C7530 within the standard flying time before solo. By the way, SP Art Ortiz who was born in Cagayan de Oro City and a current resident of AFPOVAI, Taguig City is a graduate of two (2) courses BS Nursing at Makati Medical Center and BS Computer Science at Asia Pacific College, while, SP Luk Oliveros is a resident of Basa Air Base, Floridablanca, Pampanga and a BS AMT graduate of Philippine State College of Aeronautics. Aparrently, both 1st Soloists for the day are direct dependents of military officers, the former is the son of Lt Gen Arturo B Ortiz AFP (Ret), a Medal of Valor awardee and once a Commanding General of the Philippine Army, while the latter, who’s a fortunate ACDI scholar is the son of an active PAF Officer, Col Lizander G Oliveros PAF, assigned as Base Engineer at Basa Air Base. Hence, officially, these two (2) young and daring flightless eaglets are now certified members of the elite short list of new aviators of the flight school authorized to safely takeoff, explore and conquer the infinite vastness of the horizon as well as the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, the Eagles’ Nest and home sanctuary of the LEIAAI Flyboys! Moreover, aside from this memorable feat for both 1st soloists for the day, it is also a very special day on the last flying day for the month of November, since this is the 2nd consecutive month that LEIAAI recorded more than 2,000 hours flying time, a historical achievement indeed. Furthermore, this accomplishment will further enhance the school’s aggressive stance in accelerating the programmed flight training timetable for our student pilots despite the many challenges ahead beyond our control.
Once more, congratulations to the two (2) 1st Soloists for the day, Art Ortiz II and Luk Oliveros for the once in a lifetime feat, the unforgettable “1st Solo Flight”! Likewise, kudos as well to the proud and very supportive parents for a job well done in raising promising and talented offsprings. Happy Flying & have a Safe Flight always!
