First Solo Flight of Student Pilot Lawrence Paolo Villano Macasaet

For more than a week of lull in soloing due to factors beyond our control, like the unfortunate suspension of flight training as a result of the unscheduled start of the RP-US Military Exercise Balikatan 2018 for two (2) days at SFLU last weekend and catching up with the law of averages with the school experiencing the nationwide onslaught of torrential rains brought about by Typhoons Henry and Inday compounded as well by the southwest monsoon commonly known as Habagat. Thus, soloing at our training hub was put on hold for a certain period of time until this Friday, July 20, 2018 when the aerodrome finally cleared for flight training but limited due to heavy cloud formation within the traffic pattern. As a consequence, LEIAAI once again hailed the 1st Soloist this morning on or about 0910H, as another Batangueño from Lipa City, the ruggedly handsome burly 25 year old Student Pilot Lawrence Paolo Villano Macasaet, flying Cessna 172M, RP-C6932, successfully achieved the highlight of his early flying career courtesy of Senior FI, Capt JC Asuncion in just 13 flying hours, an impressive feat indeed. The brand new 1st soloist for the day who’s a graduate of BS Aeronautics at James Clerk Maxwell in Milan, Italy is a distinguished member of the 22 strong Batch Charlie 2018 who started flying early June 2018, are now all about to complete the required 40 flying hours before taking the oral and written exams at CAAP and consequently wait for their scheduled PPL review and check ride. After, complying with all the CAAP requirements, the lucky batch may now proceed to the next level in their training, taking their CPL-IR Courses anytime soon.
Once again, congratulations SP Pao Macasaet for attaining the unforgettable 1st Solo Flight this TGIF & officially qualifying to be included in the elite short list of the young and daring flightless eaglets cleared for takeoff to safely explore and conquer the infinite vastness of the horizon and the clear blue skies of SFLU, the Eagles’ Nest of the Leading Edge flyboys. Kudos likewise to the proud and ever supportive parents for their son’s initial accomplishment. Happy flying & have a Safe Flight always. Cheers & God bless!
