First Solo Flight of Student Pilot John Carlo Unayan Tampolino and Niko Bryan Ella Lee

PAGASA, the country’s weather agency have recently been in the headlines, declaring left and right on a daily basis weather disturbance such as low pressure area, southwest monsoon rains, tropical depression, typhoons, flash floods, heavy torrential rains, thunderstorm, etc… which have greatly affected most of the archipelago, Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao. Again, maybe by Divine Providence for the past three (3) days, SFLU was very fortunate to have been spared of this natural weather phenomenon, beyond anybody’s control. Thus, today, July 25, 2018, on an amazingly crystal clear blue skies, two (2) young and daring flightless eaglets from the 22 strong Batch Charlie 2018 soar the high heavens and achieved the most significant event in their early flying careers, “1st Solo Flight.” First to be released for solo flight on or about 0900H, flying RP-C8054 is a 26 year old resident of Dasmariñas, Cavite, graduate of Lyceum of the Philippines, A.B. Multi-Media Arts, Student Pilot John Carlo Unayan Tampolino courtesy of Capt Elcid “Butchoy” Tolentino. A few minutes later, flying RP-C6932, on or about 0935H, 23 year old resident of San Antonio Village, Makati and a graduate of De La Salle University, SP Niko Bryan Ella Lee was released by Capt Retz Moon Briones.
