Since late July and early August this year, heavy downpour continuously affected Northern Luzon provinces as a result of the arrival of two (2) typhoons, Gorio and Huaning as well as the annual southwest monsoon phenomenon commonly known as Habagat. The extended lull in soloing finally ended this morning when on or about 0900H, August 10, 2017, Student Pilot Jobby Garcia Santos, a 23 year old native of San Mateo, Rizal and a graduate of University of Santo Tomas, became the 1st Soloist for the month, achieving the highlight of his early flying career courtesy of Senior FI Capt Vladimir Evangelista. Incidentally, SP Santos, a member of Batch “E” 2017 was apparently assessed to be SAFE and was able to gain the required CONFIDENCE, made smooth touchdowns during landing for him to get the outright release for solo by the assigned checker within 13.1 flying hours. During this period of unpredictable weather condition, a “Go-no-Go Policy” or suspension of flight training in case of heavy rains by the school will always prevail and safety will never be sacrificed in attaining the programmed set goals and objectives. Be that as it may, effective immediately, the young and daring eaglet who successfully made his 1st Solo Flight is now officially cleared and authorized to safely explore and conquer the infinite vastness of the horizon as well as the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, the home sanctuary of the Eagles’ Nest of the LEIAAI flyboys & flygirls!
Congratulations to the brand new 1st soloist, SP Jobby Santos for achieving the most memorable event of your early flying career! Unforgettable indeed! Have a Happy & Safe flight always! Cheers and God bless!✈️✌️✈️✈️✈️
