First Solo Flight of Student Jheevy Mae Lopez Pekson and Albert Roy Erquiza Aparri

When it rains, it pours! That is true nationwide as a result of PAGASA’s bulletin of the southwest monsoon, boosted by the land fall of Typhoon Gardo, but not in San Fernando Airport, La Union where in recent days, the weather has been very cooperative and conducive to flight training for our flightless eaglets. But the former statement could apply in the incessant pouring in rapid frequency of soloing in our training hub by a significant number of pre-solo students at hand. Just like this Tuesday morning, July 10, 2018, once again, two (2) members of the 22 strong Batch Charlie 2018 successfully achieved their 1st Solo Flight one after the other. It’s ladies first again, with another petite and charming female student pilot, SP Jheevy Mae Lopez Pekson, a 25 year old lass from General Trias, Cavite flying RP-C1300 was released for solo on or about 0915H by Capt Elcid Tolentino in just 13.5 flying hours, still considered outstanding. Fifteen (15) minutes later on or about 0930H, flying RP-C6923, the big brother of Batch Charlie 2018, a resident of nearby AFPOVAI Phase 5, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, SP Albert Roy Erquiza Aparri, 40 years of age followed suit courtesy of Capt JC Asuncion in just 12.3 flying hours, still an exceptional feat for pre-solo students. Obviously, flying runs in the blood of SP Albert Aparri as his father, MGen Pionono Aparri AFP (Ret) was once upon a time a seasoned C-130H Pilot-in-Command in the Philippine Air Force. Moreover, his lovely mom, the ageless BGen Amy Aparri, a former Chief Nurse of the PAF and the AFP was a longtime Flight Nurse with a considerable number of flying time particularly performing missions in support to Medical Air Evacuation of undetermined number of Military and Civilian patients all over the country! Ironically, both 1st Soloists for the day are not only batch-mates but are also products of the same school, De La Salle University which have become a major source of student pilots for LEIAAI.
Once again, the school is proud to extend it’s sincerest admiration and congratulatory good wishes to both SP Mae Pekson and SP Albert Aparri for effectively attaining the highlight of your early flying careers, the unforgettable 1st Solo Flight! Just remember that this is just the start of a long and winding flight plan to your dream of a lifetime to be a certified true blooded licensed Commercial Pilot in the near future! Likewise, congratulations also to both the proud and very supportive parents, who painstakingly raised mature and well-bred offsprings! Have a Happy and Safe Flight always! Cheers & God bless!
