In the morning of June 27, 2016, another flightless bird, Student Pilot Rumer Tanji Carandang, using RP C7838, achieved the highlight of his early flying career, “1st Solo Flight” courtesy of the very competent and veteran Head of Pilot Training and Senior Flight Instructor Col Arnel Borres.
Incidentally, the brand new 1st Soloist is an Aeronautical Engineering graduate from PATTS and hails from Nasugbu, Batangas, as well as an “Air Force Brat” being the son of Maj Gen Ruben Carandang AFP.
Thus, on the record, S.P. Mer Carandang is now a bonafide member in the growing elite list of the flight school’s young and daring eaglets out to explore and conquer the wide horizon as well as the vast clear blue skies of the Eagles’ Nest, the home base of the Leading Edge at San Fernando Airport, La Union.
