First Solo Flight of SP Briones

The month of June 2016 was ironically good weather flying month for Leading Edge despite PAGASA’s official declaration on May 24, 2016 as the onset of the rainy season.

The lucky last soloist for the month is Student Pilot Rets Moon De Torres Briones, 25 years old, happily married, a native of San Jose, Batangas, graduate of PhilsCA, B.S. in Aircraft Maintenance Technology, FAB and an ACDI Multi Purpose Cooperative scholar, being a former PAF Enlisted Man with the rank of Airman 2nd Class or A2C.

With his desire to fulfill his dream to become a pilot, he aggressively pursued the special offer of ACDI MPC for a scholarship program to those in the active service in the Air Force.

Thus, in the morning of June 29, flying RP C5034, S.P. Briones was released for 1st Solo Flight by no less than the Head of Pilot Training, Senior Flight Instructor, Col Arnel Borres.

With this accomplishment, S.P. Briones is now officially included in the increasing certified list of the young and daring eaglets out to explore and conquer the vastness of the horizon as well as the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, the home base sanctuary of the Eagles’ Nest of the Leading Edge Corps of Aviation Professionals.
