First Solo Flight of Student Pilot Rasser “Kian” Paderes Halipa and Pattrice Armyn Francisco

The Philippine Archipelago is at the peak of the rainy season based on PAGASA Weather bulletin where another Typhoon “Maymay” just left yesterday after enhancing the southwest monsoon, dumping rains over most parts of Luzon. However, at LEIAAI’s AOR, the current weather condition since last week have been quite favorable and conducive for Flight Training. As expected, “when it rains, it pours”! But by Divine Providence, it is not the continuous rainfall, but the rapid frequency of releases for 1st Solo Flights was the prevailing trend at our training hub since last week. Thus, this Tuesday morning, September 4, 2018, two (2) lucky members of Batch Echo 2018 successfully achieved the most significant events of their early flying careers, soloing one after the other on a clear weather day. The 1st Soloist for the month of September is 21 year old, Student Pilot Rasser “Kian” Paderes Halipa who hails from Bongao, Tawi Tawi, an exotic haven in southern Mindanao on or about 0915H, flying RP-C8054 courtesy of Capt Elcid Tolentino in just 9.9 flying hours. Ten (10) minutes later, on or about 0925H, a charming lass from Kalayaan Village, Pasay City followed suit, flying RP-C7530 courtesy of Capt Philmer Powao. Incidentally, the batchmates, Kian and Pattrice are products of PATTS College of Aeronautics and De La Salle University respectively, prominent schools that have contributed a significant number of student enrollees at LEIAAI. Moreover, a considerable number of graduates from both schools are now gainfully employed in the local airlines as well as in the general aviation industry.
Once again, congratulations Kian and Pattrice as well as to the proud and very supportive parents for successfully attaining the highlight of every young aviator, the unforgettable 1st Solo Flight! Just don’t forget that this initial accomplishment is just the beginning of your long and winding flight plan towards your dream of a lifetime, to be a certified commercial pilot! Happy flying and have a Safe Flight always! Cheers & God bless!
