First Solo Flight of Student Pilot Rain Candice Patos Mijares and John Paul Sanchez De Vera

TGIF (Thank God it’s Friday) is an appropriate slogan today, November 23, 2018 for Leading Edge as two (2) lucky members of the 19 strong Batch Hotel 2018 successfully accomplished the most significant milestone of their young flying careers, the very critical 1st Solo Flights in succession. Initially, on or about 0930H, flying RP-C7843, a petite and cute 21 year old female Student Pilot Rain Candice Patos Mijares was released for solo by Capt RJ Tejada and followed 30 minutes later on or about 1000H by a dashing behemoth 26 year old SP John Paul Sanchez De Vera who was released for solo by Capt Elcid Tolentino flying RP-C1300. By the way, JP is one among the lucky scholars for the Pilot Training Program of ACDI Multi-Purposes Cooperative and the son of BGen Egay De Vera AFP (Ret), once upon a time flying with 205th Helicopter Wing, PAF as a seasoned combat pilot. The duo, who are residents of Las Piñas City and Clark, Angeles City respectively are ironically batchmates as well as graduates San Beda College and were likewise released in just 12 flying hours, considered a sterling feat for pre-solo students indeed. Incidentally, both 1st Soloists for today are the 2nd and 3rd student pilots who joined the 1st Soloist of Batch Hotel 2018, SP Jim Alfaro who earlier soloed more than a week ago. Hence, effective immediately, the 2 young and daring 1st Soloists for the day are now officially authorized to safely takeoff with the primary flight plan to explore and finally conquer the infinite vastness of the horizon and clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, the Eagles’ Nest and home sanctuary of the LEIAAI flying eagles!
Once again, congratulations to the lucky tandem, batchmates Rain and JP for successfully achieving the highlight of your early flying careers, commendably making it as 1st Soloists this TGIF with flying colors! Kudos likewise to the proud and very supportive parents of the two (2) young eaglets, well done! Happy flying and have a Safe flight always. Cheers & God bless!
