The onset of good weather this first week of September 2018 was obviously a very lucky period as far as flight training operations is concerned as the school have substantially recovered from a temporary stall as a result of the unfortunate onslaught and wrath of Habagat last July and August this year. Likewise, LEIAAI have regained the resumption of achieving century marks or 100 and above flying hours in a day and subsequently recorded flying time above the projected target. Apparently, with this positive development, a significant number of pre-solo students made their individual first solo flights one after another this week that was ironically sustained due to daily uninterrupted flight training operations. As a consequence, this Friday, on a TGIF, September 7, 2018, one (1) of the so many young eaglets from Batch Echo 2018 was released for 1st solo flight in addition to the other Lucky 9 1st Soloists this week alone. Flying RP-C7843, on or about 0940H this morning, 21 year old Student Pilot Lester Nuque Tipay, who hails from Concepcion, Tarlac and a graduate of BS Transportation from PATTS College of Aeronautics was released for solo flight by Senior FIight Instructor, Capt RJ Tejada. Incidentally, the brand new 1st Soloist this TGIF convincingly performed well and may now be officially counted among the elite short list of the young and daring flightless eaglets cleared for takeoff to safely explore and conquer the vastness of the horizon and the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union. Moreover, today’s 1st Soloist must remember that this initial success is just the beginning of a very long and tedious hard work towards a cherished dream of a lifetime, to be a certified Commercial Airline Pilot, the goal of every young and ambitious aviator.
