First Solo Flight of Student Pilot Fernandez, Nicanor, Duldulao and Zosa

Thank God it’s Friday (TGIF). When it rains it pours, not rain water but the incessant soloing of flightless eaglets at LEIAAI’s training hub at San Fernando Airport, La Union. Likewise, today the four (4) 1st Soloists from the 24 strong “PPL Batch Alpha 2018” achieved the most memorable highlight of their early flying. It must have really been a very lucky Friday for these newly reported flightless eaglets as soloing for the foursome came in succession on a very clear weather day. First to solo courtesy of Capt Elcid Tolentino, on or about 0900H, flying RP-C1300 was the petite female Student Pilot Ianna Monique Apon Fernandez, a 22 year old lass from Cebu City and a product of San Carlos University, BS Economics. Almost simultaneously, flying RP-C8249 on or about 0910H courtesy of Capt Vlad Evangelista, another cute female student, SP Allyrianne Maria Silva Nicanor, 21 years old from Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas, Political Economy graduate of University of Asia Pacific, Ortigas did it in style. Incidentally, the 2 young charming lady pilots have proven to one and all that the modern day women have the capability to pursue a career where once upon a time, only men have the exclusive monopoly. To proceed, two (2) hours later, on or about 1110H, flying RP-C6923, courtesy of Capt JC Asuncion, SP Luis Angelo Respecio Duldulao, 25 years old resident of Southwoods, Carmona, Cavite and a BS Nursing graduate of FEU made it in just 8.3 Flying Hours, a rare feat indeed as far as flying skills and aptitude is concerned. Last, but not the least among the 4 soloists for the day, was the jolliest student, 22 year old SP Gabriel Vincent Rodriguez Zosa a native of Cebu City and a graduate of UP Cebu, BA Product Design, flying RP-C8249 courtesy again of Capt Vlad Evangelista. Henceforth, with the sterling accomplishment of reaching the most coveted feat in aviation, 1st Solo Flight, the foursome may now plot a flight plan towards a very bright, glamorous & rewarding profession! But in doing so, it would mean a long and winding career pattern in the highest degree and culture of discipline, hard work,, punctuality, integrity, due diligence, passion, patience, etc… all pre-requisites in getting hired in the very stiff competition in the aviation industry. Furthermore, the hectic flight training will be full of ups and downs, turbulent weather, touch and go’s, climb and climbing turns, power on/off stalls, airworks, instrument flying, simulated emergency force landing maneuvers, cross country navigation flights, etc….
Once more, congratulations to the magnificent 4 lucky weekend TGIF batchmates, Student Pilots Ianna, Arya, Luis and Gab. Welcome to the club of the few & elite members of the young and daring eaglets ready for takeoff to fully explore and conquer the infinite vastness of the horizon and clear blue skies of SFLU, where the Eagles’ Nest of LEIAAI is located.
