While it is raining cats and dogs in Metro Manila today, sunny clear blue skies was the prevailing weather condition at our hub in San Fernando Airport, La Union which was why there is a sustained flight training operations. After the unfortunate delay of soloing yesterday of Student Pilot Chryss Yancee Gabriel Oliva as a result of the fast rate of closure during landing in the final approach with 190° Rwy-in-use, this morning, on or about 1000H, 05 October 2017, using RP-C1300, she was finally released for 1st Solo Flight by Senior FI, Capt Roche Carranza. The bespectacled 21 year old lass from Pagsanjan, Laguna and a product of University of Santo Tomas, BS Pharmacy, eventually corrected and resolved her issue on her fast rate final approach for landing and safely made smooth touchdowns during the touch and go maneuvers which was the key for her release for solo. Actually, SP Oliva is one of the few remaining members of the 19 strong Batch “Foxtrot” 2017 who have at long last made it to the elite list of the young & daring eaglets by successfully achieving the most significant event in her early flying career, 1st Solo!
Once again, congratulations SP Yancee Oliva, the pride of Pagsanjan, Laguna for attaining the most coveted feat in Pilot Training, the primary goal in flying, the unforgettable 1st Solo Flight. Likewise, for making it among the few but growing breed of female aviators who have clearly asserted a very vital role in the overall airline industry. Have a Happy and Safe Flight always!
