As early as now, July 2018 was really a very lucky month as far as flight training operations is concerned, as we have attained successive century marks or 100 and above flying hours in a day and subsequently recorded the highest flying time in a week logging a total of 539.13 flying hours, from July 2 to July 6, an outstanding feat in the 10 year history of the flight school. Apparently, today, the school recorded 116.48 flying hours, the highest flying time in a single day. Likewise, LEIAAI was fortunate to be a beneficiary of countless blessings from the high heavens with the prevalence of of good weather despite Pagasa’s pronouncement of the rainy season or southwest monsoon, commonly known as Habagat. Thus, with these positive developments, a significant number of pre-solo students made their individual first solo flights in succession this week that was sustained due to daily uninterrupted flight training operations. As a consequence, today a TGIF on a Friday, July 6, 2018, three (3) young and daring flightless eaglets were released for 1st solo flights one after the other. Initially, flying RP-C7530, on or about 0940H, an Imus Cavite resident, 25 year old Student Pilot Joselito Narte Pasao, a graduate of AMT, PATTS College of Aeronautics was released for solo by Senior FI, Capt Philmer Powao. Twenty (20) minutes later, flying RP-C8249 on or about 1000H, the baby-faced bespectacled 22 year old Las Pinas City resident, SP Nathan Adriel Domingo Alarcon, a product of UST, Manila, BS MedTech followed suit courtesy of the Head of Training, Capt Vladimir Evangelista. Finally, on or about 1050H, the last soloist for the day is another Caviteno from Carmona, a young 22 year old SP Christian John Aguel Descalsota, another AMT graduate of Philsca flying once again RP-C7530 with the same checker Capt Philmer Powao. Incidentally, the three brand new 1st Soloists this TGIF were convincingly released and may now be officially counted among the elite list of the young and daring eaglets cleared for takeoff to safely explore and conquer the vastness of the horizon and the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union.
With a sense of pride and honor, we are profoundly grateful to all the hardworking men and women of Leading Edge (Flight Instructors, Maintenance Personnel, Student Pilots, Operations, Management and Staff, LEIAAI Employees, etc…) for the well-orchestrated team effort in achieving the historical record breaking news, the highest flying time in a day as well as in a week, an outstanding performance indeed. Likewise, congratulations to the three (3) brand new 1st Soloists for the day, Student Pilots Joe Pasao, Nate Alarcon and CJ Descalsota for achieving the most significant accomplishment of their early flying careers, “1st Solo Flight”. The same honor goes to the proud parents for your all out support! Happy flying and have a Safe Flight always! God bless and Cheers!✈✈✈✈✈✈✈
