First Solo Flight of Student Alvin Ocampo Ubungen

This morning, on or about 0950H, 12 September 2017, flying Cessna 172M, RP-C6923, Student Pilot Alvin Ocampo Ubungen of Olongapo City and a BS Air Transportation graduate of PATTS College of Aeronautics, achieved the highlight of his early flying career, ‘First Solo Flight” courtesy of Capt JC “Carlo” Asuncion, one of the newly upgraded Senior Fls and Chief Ground Instructor of the school. Incidentally, the 1st soloist for the day, worked for a span of 5 years as a casino dealer at the famous Resort World Manila up to May 2017 and maybe by Divine Providence or change of fortune, ended up enrolling at LEIAAI before the tragic bloody attack by a full battle-geared lone gunman, known to be a very desperate gambling big-time loser at the RWM Casino last June 2, 2017. Again, Lady Luck must have really been very good to our brand new 1st soloist, the 5th member of Batch Foxtrot 2017, as he was able to successfully attain the highlight of his early flying career on a timely fashion before the onslaught of Typhoons Lannie and Maring in our AOR, as the scheduled 3rd period flights were immediately recalled and training was suspended for the day. Obviously, the rapid turnover of student pilots in our flight school had become the normal mode which is notably a positive plus factor for aspiring future commercial airline pilots. Apparently, yesterday, the formal opening of ground schooling for fifteen (15) strong new PPL students (Batch Golf 2017) beefed up the ongoing CPL course composed of twelve (12) students. Moreover, a significant number of our student pilots (PPL, CPL-IR and FIC ) are currently on the tedious process of following up individual documents, exams, check-rides and other requirements at CAAP, a factor beyond the school’s control.
Once again, congratulations to SP Alvin Ubungen and welcome to the club of the elite members of the young and daring eaglets of the flight school authorized to explore and conquer the vastness of the horizon as well as the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union! Happy flying and have a Safe Flight always! God bless & Cheers!✈️✈️
