As expected, another one of the newly reported flightless eaglets at our flight school successfully accomplished his first solo flight with a bang! This morning, a TGIF, on a fairly good weather condition, on or about 0920H, May 17, 2019, 30 year old Student Pilot Jan Michael Abiera Orozco, the 2nd member of the 19 strong March Batch 2019-03, commendably achieved his 1st Solo Flight in just 10.58 Flying Hours. The old dependable Check Pilot, Col Arnel Borres was at the helm of the check-ride, when the subject student pilot flying RP-C7906 displayed exceptional performance, the principal reason why releasing for 1st Solo wasn’t considered a difficulty by the assigned checker. Apparently, the good looking SP Jan Michael Orozco, resident of Verdantvile, Silang, Cavite and a product of STI College of Tagaytay, BS Info Tech graduate, attained this exemplary feat by virtue of his inherent skills, sheer passion and guts to make his dream come true in style. Obviously, flying runs in the blood of our 1st Soloist for the day as his dad, Maj Gen Art Orozco AFP (Ret), a member of the Aviation Cadet PAF Flying School Class 78A was a former Attack Pilot of the famous 15th Strike Wing, PAF and currently the Vice Chairman of the ACDI Multi- Purpose Cooperative, the mother company of LEIAAI. Incidentally, Col Arnel Borres who’s a member of PAF Flying School Class 79 was a direct lowerclassman and ironically a student and wingman of MGen Art Orozco at the 15th SW, flying the T-28D Trojan, the old reliable famed Tora Tora light attack aircraft. Thus, the brand new 1st Soloist this Friday, on a TGIF may now be included in the elite short list of the young and daring flightless eaglets ready for safe takeoff to explore the infinite vastness of the horizon as well as the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, the home sanctuary and Eagles’ Nest of LEIAAI’s Flyboys.
Congratulations SP Boss Mike Orozco, the junior “Pretty Little Boy” of the Orozco family for achieving the highlight of his early flying career, the unforgettable 1st Solo Flight! And of course, same accolades likewise to the proud and very supportive parents, dad Art and mom Sony. Happy flying and have a Safe Flight always!
