In the morning of July 14, 2016, Student Pilot Hans Christopher Sunpongco Castilo, the bespectacled 20 year old product of UST Manila, attained the most significant event of a career in aviation, “1st Solo Flight”!
For the second consecutive day, S.P. Hans Castilo became the 2nd 1st Soloist for the month where again, challenging the gusty wind condition brought about by “Habagat,” successfully triumphed and proved that this particular obstruction to his burning desire to be a certified pilot is not a concern.
As luck would have it, the brand new 1st Soloist was torn between his ambition to be a Medical Doctor or to pursue the glamorous profession of becoming a commercial airline pilot and of course, the latter prevailed.
Thus, effective this day, S.P. Castilo will now be a included in the short list of the growing number of the young and daring eaglets destined to explore and conquer the vastness of the horizon as well as the clear and at times cloudy skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union!
