As expected, another one of the newly reported female eaglets at our flight school successfully accomplished her first solo flight with a bang! This morning, a TGIF, flying RP-C8249 on a fairly good weather condition on or about 0950H, April 20, 2018, 25 year old Student Pilot Katrina Palma Carangan, a member of the 24 strong Batch Alpha 2018, successfully achieved her “1st Solo Flight” in just 13.9 Flying Hours. The very capable Senior Fl, Capt Vlad Evangelista was at the helm of the check-ride, when the subject student pilot displayed exceptional performance, the primary reason why releasing for 1st Solo wasn’t considered a difficulty by the assigned checker. Apparently, SP Kat Carangan, a product of Enderun Colleges, Hotel Administration graduate, attained this exemplary feat by virtue of her inherent skills, sheer passion and guts to make her dream come true in style. Moreover, Kat is the 2nd of the Carangan siblings, being the dotting elder sister to brother Erik “King” who finished the complete course early last year and currently undergoing Airbus rating at AAG. Obviously, flying runs in the blood of the siblings as their dad, Capt Ferico “Eley” Carangan, member of PAF Flying School Class 93B was a former Fighter Pilot of the 5th Fighter Wing, PAF and currently a Captain in Viet Air. Thus, the brand new 1st Soloist may now be included in the short elite list of the young and daring flightless eaglets ready for takeoff to explore the vastness of the horizon as well as the clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, the home sanctuary of the Eagles’ Nest of Leading Edge.
Congratulations SP Kat Carangan for achieving the highlight and most unforgettable feat of a career in aviation, “1st Solo Flight”! And of course, congrats likewise to the very proud and supportive parents. Happy flying and have a Safe Flight always! Cheers and God bless!
