Just recently, Pagasa officially declared the transition of Habagat to Amihan or the reversal of the winds from southwest to northeast monsoon, an annual weather phenomenon. Thus, today, October 13, 2017 and ironically a Friday the 13th, flight training was indefinitely suspended due to the entry of Tropical Depression Odette which triggered the northeast monsoon now being felt by Northern Luzon. Seldom that typhoons occur within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of LEIAAI but this unfortunate climate change, though unwelcome, is an event beyond anybody’s control.
Be that as it may, the week that passed was quite significant, not only due to the smooth and safe flight operations, but more so of the latest positive developments, such as the recent transfer of our student pilots, flight instructors as well as aircraft mechanics from the old dorm and apartments to the newly constructed, high-end 3 story dormitory building adjacent to the new Maintenance Hangar Complex. Another major activity is the blessing of the 4 newly acquired aircraft from the US, officially registered (COR), already test flown and awaiting processing of certificates of airworthiness (COA) required by CAAP. Hopefully, within the month of October, these additional air assets will beef up the current fleet which translates to sustained flight training operations of our current student pilots and fast track their quest of finishing the Pilot Training Program the soonest possible time. Furthermore, in God’s grace, most of our student pilots are projected to join the airlines where most of their seniors are now gainfully employed and have reached their cherished dreams of a lifetime.
Have a Happy and Safe Flight always! Cheers and God bless!
