Once again, Leading Edge sustained its Flight Training Program as envisioned in producing quality trained future aviation professionals to the optimum. On a clear weather day this morning, August 15, 2017 on or about 0900H, Student Pilot Karyl Misha Marie Chavez Gomez, a young petite lass from Batch “Echo” 2017 on board Cessna 172M RP-C6923, achieved the highlight of her early flying career, “1st Solo”, courtesy of the very competent Senior Flight Instructor, Capt Vladimir Evangelista. Incidentally, SP Misha Gomez who hails from Baguio City and loves flying, recently celebrated her birthday a week ago, August 7, is a product of St. Louis University (SLU), BS Electronics Engineering. Apparently, flying runs in the blood of the 1st Soloist for today, being the doting daughter of the proud father, Capt Neil Gomez, a seasoned pilot of the PAF and currently with Cebu Pacific Air. Henceforth, officially, the 1st soloist for the day is now a certified member in the elite list of the Leading Edge’s young and daring eaglets authorized to explore and conquer the vastness of the horizon as well as the clear blue skies of the Eagles’ Nest, the home base of the Leading Edge at Poro Pt., San Fernando Airport, La Union. Moreover, our brand new 1st soloist may now proceed with the series of flight missions, maneuvers, air works, power-off stalls, touch and go’s as well as navigation to a very glamorous and lucrative career in the aviation industry.
