Just recently, Super Typhoon Ompong, one of the most devastating storm this year where Leading Edge had long anticipated and fully prepared a rigid contingency in it’s flight training operations hastily left behind havoc and misery in Northern Luzon last weekend. Obviously, maintaining flight safety have been the primary objective of LEIAAI during this period of unpredictable weather condition of intermittent torrential rains and thunderstorms! Apparently, the school will not be hampered by this bad weather phenomenon and will continue to safely operate with extreme caution. Thus, after almost a week lull in the conduct of soloing due to the nonstop rains brought about by the recent onslaught of Typhoon Ompong as well as Habagat or commonly called southwest monsoon rains, Student Pilot Nicco Jesus Christopher Robles Castillo, a 28 year old resident of General Trias, Cavite and a product of International Academy of Management and Economics achieved his 1st Solo Flight flying RP-C7669 on or about 0910H, September 18, 2018 courtesy of Capt Retz Moon Briones. The unforgettable highlight of his early flying career materialized commendably within the standard flying time before solo. Hence, this young and daring flightless eaglet is now officially authorized to join the few and elite brave flyboys of LEIAAI in taking off to safely explore and conquer the infinite vastness of the horizon and clear blue skies of San Fernando Airport, La Union, where the home sanctuary of the Eagles’ Nest of Leading Edge is located.
