The best example why LEIAAI will and shall never sacrifice Safety

Today, August 7, 2018 is the best example why LEIAAI will and shall never sacrifice Safety in attaining set goals and programmed flying time. As usual, the weather at our station remains conducive for flight training all day long. However, in the 3rd period, though heavy rains have yet to penetrate the aerodrome, the wind condition became too strong for comfort, reaching gust of 30 knots and above, obviously already an invitation to a very unsafe condition. Hence, before getting into the “eye of the storm” and in close coordination with the Control Tower, all aircraft were hastily recalled to land as soon as possible and prevent accident/incident in-the-waiting to happen. Apparently, during the recall order, all eyes were focused at the final approach and touchdown of every aircraft airborne and witnessed in suspense the expert pilotage and skills of our flight instructors in safely landing and keeping all the aircraft intact and in one piece. Thus, before the onset of the worst case scenario going into the 4th and last period, all aircraft were accounted for, down and parked inside the maintenance hangar. One clear advantage of San Fernando Airport during this unwelcome weather condition which is beyond our control, is it’s runway dimension of 2,120×45 meters, specifically designed for international airline operations, a bonus safety feature for flight training.
In view of the foregoing, LEIAAI will always consider Safety as Paramount because Safety is a race we can all win! To all our young and daring Flying Eagles: Happy flying & have a Safe Flight always! Cheers & God bless!
